The Top of the South Branch of the New Zealand Society of Authors

Birgit Baader

Birgit Baader is an author, book translator, editor, manuscript assessor and freelance journalist for print and TV media. Her focus is on Self-Help, Interspecies Communication, birth, alternative learning concepts, and shamanism. She is the author of Journey Within/Reise ins Ich series (Reader’s Digest); Birth – Rediscovery of the Female Way/ Geburt – Wiederentdeckung des weibllichenWeges; New Ways of Evolution/ NeueWege der Evolution; Children of the New Millenium/ Kinder des NeuenJahrtausend, and numerous other publications. With the musician Peter Prestel she is also producing meditation and relaxation CDs. Birgit currently lives in Motueka with her family.

Birgit has written stories since she was a little girl. She loves roaming freely in the land of imagination and collecting stories wherever she goes. After the birth of her daughter in 1992 she started to work full-time as an editor and writer, working during the night to be more flexible as a mum during the day. In 2005, after 20 years of working for publishing houses, print and TV media in Europe, she moved to New Zealand with her two children.  While mainly working for overseas publishers in the past, Birgit is writing more and more for an English speaking audience. She is also available as a mentor and manuscript assessor for the NZSA mentoring scheme.

Recent publications in English are Dance Into An Inner Light (book and CD), covering balancing and focusing techniques for children aged 5-12, and Raiti and Moonlight. Both are available in print or as e-books from Birgit’s website.
