I was born and partly educated in Argentina before moving to England as a teenager. My wife Sheila and I moved to New Zealand in 2002, complete with dogs and cat in the aircraft hold. For the first eight years we lived in idyllic surroundings in a large log house in Motupiko but, in 2010, after our son had an unexpected addition to his family, we moved to Wakefield to be closer and help support them while he and his wife continued working. In 2016 we decided to move into Nelson to become more involved with our community and now live in Atawhai.
I have spent most of my life at sea, initially in the Royal Navy, but for the last 20 years in oil and gas offshore exploration working on survey vessels.
I am now semi-retired, but keen to remain active. So after 40 years of technical writing, I have formalised that experience with a Diploma in Proofreading and Editing with which I hope to help authors of all types of book, document, study or thesis ensure that their hard work looks its best before publishing. See my website www.crosscheck.co.nz for more information, contact details and current offer.
I am delighted to be a member of the NZSA and look forward to finally writing something more joyful and absorbing than a technical document.
