Lindsay Wood
|
Lindsay Wood is a versatile author, with acclaimed books for children and young adults, short stories in various genres and across different media, published poems, and successful ventures into technical journalism.
In 2011, ‘This Way Up’ was recognised as a Storylines Notable Book, and Lindsay’s rhyming picture book ‘Beach Bag Boogie’ (illustrated by Rebekah Holguin) was rated by Listener Magazine among the best children’s books (both were published by HarperCollins). A hallmark of Lindsay’s work is the lively way he connects the familiar with the unfamiliar, and offers fresh insights into things readers might otherwise know well. For him creative writing combines the magic of Aladdin’s Lamp – liberating amazing mysteries and adventures, creating heroes and villains – with the delights of spinning with gold, crafting enticing plots, developing intriguing characters, and bringing out the lustre of words. Lindsay has an honours degree in architecture, has been extensively involved in architectural practice and education, and now lives in Nelson, where he focuses on his extended family and on championing Climate Change awareness and response. |
