CHRISSIE WARD / PROOFREADING AND COPY EDITING
Chrissie developed her skills while working for non-fiction publishers in the UK in the days when 'copy and paste' involved scissors and a pot of glue! She provides proofreading and copy editing at very reasonable rates.
DANA WENSLEY / STRUCTURAL EDITING SERVICES
Dana has over 20 years’ experience as a writer. She has worked as an assistant editor in London, a columnist in Canada, presented her short fiction at the prestigious Eden Mills Literary Festival in Canada, and she now writes, produces and interviews for the Top Writers Radio Show on Fresh FM.
Dana holds a postgraduate diploma in writing from Humber (Toronto), where she was mentored by New York Times notable book of the year author Helen Humphreys. From this experience she learned what she thinks is the golden rule of writing: “The silence between the words is as important as the words themselves”.
Dana offers structural editing, where she examines overall flow, reviews style, and provides feedback on how to make the text have more impact with readers, including synopsis and 'back blurb' preparation.
She also offers manuscript assessment services which involve a close reading of the work. Dana will provide a full written report of the work’s strengths and weaknesses, focusing on plot, characterisation, style, and language.
Editing packages start at $150 and can be tailored to suit individual needs.

JIM KENNARD / PROOFREADING AND EDITING
The Importance of Getting it Right!
In 1631 Robert Barker and Martin Lucas, Royal publishers to the Court of Charles I, proudly published their version of the King James Bible. However, due to poor proofreading before publication, Exodus 20:14 was composited as ‘Thou shalt commit adultery’. In the ensuing uproar, these gentlemen faced the Court, were stripped of their Royal Warrant and had their presses confiscated, in addition to most copies being destroyed. A few copies still exist and are known variously as the Wicked Bible, or the Sinners Bible: it was not the intent of these good gentlemen to have their hard work of love remembered in such a way.
Do you want to be sure that your hard work is ready for the publisher and will live on with the message you wanted to share? Then I can help you by being that second pair of eyes, going through the manuscript in detail, ensuring clarity and consistency, checking grammar and punctuation. Don’t let a typo spoil the future.
I also offer a translation service from Spanish into English, as well as assistance with family and historical research. See my website for details.

LORNA CROFT / PROOFREADING & EDITING
You have written a novel, a short story or an article. All your dedication and hard graft are about to be realised. However, before you consider publishing your work, you want to make sure the text will meet your readers’ approval. As the creator of this piece of writing, you’ve developed a close, personal attachment to your manuscript. After all, it has been an important part of your life for a long time.
I recognise the effort and emotion you have put into your writing, and I take this into account when reviewing your manuscript. My approach to your work is sensitive, appreciating the need to maintain your voice and intent in the revised copy. I provide an objective eye, scanning your text to check whether it meets the criteria of clarity, conciseness, correctness, consistency and comprehensibility. In addition, I look at the overall structure and make suggestions when and where I see a need for improvement.
I have edited and proofread several technical and business documents, a newsletter, and website content for local community organisations. In addition, I edit a monthly e-zine for Romance Writers of New Zealand (RWNZ). A love of learning often tempts me into surfing the Internet for interesting short courses that allow me to practise my skills or expand my knowledge. In my spare time, I’m an avid reader and a writer of fiction.
