Hayley Solomon

Hayley Solomon (professionally known as Hayley Ann Solomon) is a Blenheim author and poet.  She is the two time winner of the Proverse International Supplementary Prize – in 2016 for her debut anthology of poetry, Celestial Promise, and in 2018 for her collection of short stories entitled Under the shade of the feijoa tree and other stories.

Most of her earlier novels were published under the Zebra regency romance label, NY,  before she switched from mass market genre writing to fantasy, JAFF, poetry and literary short stories. She was twice listed as a top ten best writer for Momaya Press and has three times been an  Honoree of the University of Maine at Machias.

Her novel Raven’s Ransom was a top pick for the US Romantic Times in 2001, and in 2017 her young adult fiction fantasy Wishbinder was picked up by Calumet Editions.

Anyway, a bit about her…

Hayley is the wife of a very lovely Blenheim surgeon and the mother of three utterly wonderful boys, all grown up and lawyering, sciencing and engineering. She has pink hair, is studying for her ATCL in classical singing and has a firm belief in the value of kindness in the world. (Much of her philosophical constructs can be inferred by her writing!)

Once upon a time she completed her Masters degree in Librarianship through the University of Victoria, Wellington, and worked as the Head of Distance Services for the University of Otago Library.  She has two fantastic parrots – one tiny and grumpy, one extra large, fluffy and full of joy.

Hayley lives on the same block as a chocolate factory.  She is very cheerful about this!
