Jeanette Goode
For as long as I can remember I loved to draw pictures and write stories. It was my ambition from a very early age to become a writer and illustrator of children’s books.
My career in the film industry took me in a different direction. For 30 years I worked as a Costume Designer, then in the Art Department, making other people’s stories a reality. Now that I am retired I devote most of my time and energy to writing and illustrating for children. I’m not in a rush. I don’t need another career. I just want to enjoy the process and never stop learning. I am lucky to live on the West Coast of Aotearoa New Zealand. I step off my deck on to a beautiful beach where the river meets the ocean. It is an ever-changing landscape with big skies and the constant river. It is a perfect place to dream and write. I share this environment with an abundance of winged creatures, and sometimes a seal. My favourite neighbours are the kororā, the little blue penguins, who come ashore at night then head up the hill to their burrows. In 2012 I completed a Diploma in Children's Literature from Christchurch College of Education, Canterbury University, via distance learning. I have achieved a Diploma in Business and a Certificate in Adult Literacy Education. |
