Lucy Wilson
writing as H. Lucy
Born in England and brought up in Australia, Lucy attended school in both countries. Too English to be Australian and too Australian to be English, she feels right at home in New Zealand.
She has been writing stories from the moment she could put words on paper but was convinced by her medical family to study science at university. With a degree in Marine Science from Sydney University, and a love of the outdoors, her resume wanders from six years working as a marine biologist and scientific editor in Australia, to nine years teaching skiing in Queenstown, France and Canada, six years as Press Officer for the Queenstown ski areas, and 15 seasons as a Track Guide on the Hollyford, Milford and Abel Tasman tracks (not all at the same time!). Finally settled in Riwaka, she works as Media Co-ordinator for Wilsons Abel Tasman, so most of her writing involves brochures, media releases, tourism award entries and websites. Her fiction bestseller has been a work in progress for thirty years. She practises fiction by entering short story competitions. So far, no wins but taking second place in the 2020 Page & Blackmore Short Story Competition is an inspiration to keep going. To indulge her writing passion, Lucy set up her own website to publish essays and short stories (including unsuccessful competition entries). It’s called Inappropriate Dinner Party Conversations. https://hlucy.com/ |
