Rachael Craw

Rachael Craw loves classical heroes, Joss Whedon, teen angst and beautiful sounding words. She taught English for several years at Christchurch Girls' High School and Rangi Ruru Girls' Collage before babies and writing hijacked her life. Born and raised in Christchurch, she now lives in Nelson with her husband and three daughters.

With a background in classical studies and drama, Rachael also pursued acting for a while and wrote plays for amateur theatre and film scripts that she never showed anyone. She also has boxes of cringe-worthy poetry that ought to never see the light of day! Scriptwriting has given her a passion for good dialogue, which she loves writing best of all.

Rachael writes Young Adult fiction. Her debut novel Spark was released in 2014 by Walker Books Australia. It is the first in a YA sci-fi crossover trilogy about a girl who has been genetically engineered to protect others using her enhanced physical and telepathic powers. Book two Stray was launched in September 2015, and book three Shield in September 2016.

Spark and Stray are available from all good book stores or you can purchase online. Rachael's latest YA title The Rift was launched in November 2018.

Listen here to Rachael's interview on the Top Writers Radio Show on
Fresh FM in July 2018.
